Class work and Homework
No formal homework will be assigned other than reading daily and logging it on a reading log as well as reading fluency practice. If your child does not finish his/her assigned class work, then it becomes homework. Your child has a G.O. Binder this year to help teach him/her how to be responsible and organized. The "G.O." stands for Getting Organized. In this G.O. Binder you will find the following:
- Planner - Your child can keep track of his/her daily Seesaw assignments in the planner. (optional)
- Resources - These are pages in sheet protectors that are used as resources to help your child with reading and math.
- Reading Pocket - This is where you will find Reading Logs so your child can keep track of the books/chapters he/she reads daily. Your child can read independently or with a grown up. Bedtime stories count!
- Fluency Pocket - This is where you will find weekly reading fluency passages. Please have your child read the passage out loud as you time him/her for one minute. Keep track of any mistakes so your child can practice reading it correctly the next time.
- Math Pocket - Math work can be kept in this pocket as well as any Math Tools so they don't get lost.
- Writing Pocket - This is were you will find Thinking Maps and writing papers to use for formal writing assignments.
- Spelling Pocket - Weekly spelling practice sheets will be found here, beginning with review lists and then our first grade list.
